BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Wayne “Big Daddy” Sims, who played in four NCAA Tournaments with LSU from 1987-1991, died Wednesday at age 54.LSU’s athletic department confirmed Sims’ death. No cause of death was immediately disclosed. Sims’ coach at LSU was Dale Brown, and his teammates included Shaquille O’Neal, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf and Vernel Singleton. During Sims’ senior season, LSU won the Southeastern Conference championship. “He brought the best out in players, and everyone liked him,” Brown said. “He was a team player — didn’t get the credit maybe he deserved for the great run they had, but he was a wonderful person.“He was never a flashy guy that needed stardom, but he was the base to our team.” Wayne’s son Wayde, also played for two seasons for the Tigers before he was fatally shot during an off-campus altercation on the eve of LSU’s first scheduled practice before the 2018-19 season. CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Browns second-year defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey was arrested in Texas on a misdemeanor assault charge earlier this week for allegedly causing bodily harm to a woman he was dating.According to Harris County court records, Winfrey was arrested at 7 p.m. Monday and charged with one count of assault. He was freed on $1,000 bond and told not to have contact with the complainant.A Browns spokesman said the team “was aware of the situation and gathering more information.”The official complaint said that Winfrey “unlawfully, intentionally and knowingly” caused bodily injury to the woman by grabbing and pulling her with his hand. DENVER (KDVR) — So far it's been a dry start to spring in Denver. At this point, the snowpack isn't a concern and there is still plenty of time to pick up snowfall this season. As of April 12, 2023, the Denver area has picked up 46.9 inches of snow. This is 8.3 inches behind the 55.2 inches of snow that we usually pick up through the month of April. In January, the Denver area picked up 13 inches of snow, which is double the 6.5 inches usually picked up in January. February on the other hand was much drier. That month, Denver only picked up 4.7 inches of snowfall instead of the normal 7.8 inches. Heat record broken in Denver, big change coming Friday March and April are typically Denver's snowiest months. However, Denver only saw 5.1 inches of snow instead of the normal 11.5 inches in March. So far April has only brought Denver 0.2 inches of snow, which is well behind the normal 8.8 inches that we usually pick up through the month.
