Mammoth Mountain extends summer ski season

Skiers and snowboarders will have an extra week to ride some powder at Mammoth Mountain after the resort announced it would be extending its summer season.Mammoth's Second Season was set to end at the end of July, but thanks to prolonged accumulation from California's historic snowy season, that end date has been pushed back to Aug. 6.Skiers ride down a slope at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in July 2023. (Mammoth Mountain Ski Area)Mammoth experienced record-breaking snowfall this year, with 715 inches of accumulation at the main lodge — the highest recorded snowfall total in the resort's 70-year history. Skiing and snowboarding hours at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area are between 7:30 a.m. and noon daily. (KRON) -- A United Airlines flight headed to Taipei was diverted back to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Thursday evening, the airport confirmed to KRON4. The flight was diverted back to SFO due to an "unruly passenger."Flight 871 left SFO around 2:54 p.m., flew approximately two hours toward the Taiwan capital and flew two hours back towards SFO, according to FlightAware. Collier scored 10 of her points in the fourth quarter as the Lynx (10-12) won despite squandering a 20-point lead and completed a season sweep of Los Angeles (7-14), which matched a franchise record with its seventh straight loss. Noh eagled all three par-5 holes and scored a tournament-record 23 points Thursday to take the first-round lead in the Barracuda Championship at Tahoe Mountain Club.Co-sanctioned by the European tour, the tournament uses the Modified Stableford scoring system, with Noh breaking the event round mark of 18 points. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Annette O’Malley, who helped her husband Peter O’Malley promote baseball globally during his family’s ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has died. She was 81.She died Wednesday at home in Los Angeles, the Dodgers announced on Thursday after being informed by Peter O’Malley’s assistant.Peter O’Malley was president of the Dodgers from 1970 to 1998 and took over ownership of the team upon the death of his father, Walter, in 1979.Annette regularly attended spring training with her family at Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Florida, where she spent time with the players, their wives and children.She made many trips abroad with her husband to support the sport, including visiting Japan over 25 times.
