The curious ways Ivanka Trump has returned to dad’s side in case he becomes president again: report

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 07:33:00 GMT

People shouldn’t read too much into Ivanka Trump saying last year that she was done with politics, or her failure to thus far appear at any of Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign events.Behind the scenes, a new report by Vanity Fair says that the former first daughter supports her father’s attempts to return to the White House, especially if she and her husband Jared Kushner believe there could be prominent roles for them in the next administration.Vanity Fair and other outlets have logged the ways that the former socialite and entrepreneur has stopped distancing herself this summer from her father, which was the case for two years after he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden. And not all of Ivanka Trump’s gestures of support have been behind the scenes. The former White House senior adviser has let herself be tied to him, at least socially, even as he has been indicted on more than 91 counts in four jurisdictions, including charges in Washington, D.C., and Fulton C...

¿Por qué tienes que caminar tanto hasta tu puerta de embarque en el aeropuerto?

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 07:33:00 GMT

Big Greater Boston cases and where they go next: From Karen Read to Brian Walshe

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 07:33:00 GMT

The husband accused of murdering and dismembering his wife in their Cohasset home on the first day of this year and then hiding her body, which has never been found, is back in court this week. It’s one of several big cases that have made this year such a newsy one.Brian Walshe, 48, was indicted for the murder of his wife, Ana Walshe, 39, in March, and was arraigned on the charge in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham on April 27. At that time, Judge Beverly J. Cannone denied him bail and set a next court date for Aug. 23, this Wednesday, a date confirmed by the clerk’s office last week. The case has been largely dormant since that time, minus a treasure trove of District Court-level filings that were released when the case was kicked up to the Superior Court, as the defense and prosecutors build their cases. The grisly case has garnered national attention with its details, including alleged Google searches found in the days following Ana Walshe’s disappearance, including “How long ...

Another harrowing night for Okanagan amid B.C. wildfire state of emergency

WEST KELOWNA — Residents of West Kelowna and Kelowna have endured another harrowing night surrounded by wildfires that form the epicentre of a battle against hundreds of blazes across British Columbia. The provincewide fire fight has triggered a provincial state of emergency, with about 15,000 people evacuated from their homes across B.C., and a further 20,000 under evacuation alerts.A series of new evacuation orders were issued by the City of Kelowna, Kelowna and the Westbank First Nation Friday night, in addition to alerts warning residents to be ready to leave at short notice.Fires deemed out of control are now burning on both sides of Lake Okanagan, including the devastating McDougall Creek fire that the BC Wildfire Service says covers 105 square kilometres. But conditions overnight were calmer than during Thursday and Friday’s desperate battle against flames that consumed numerous homes and other properties, including the Lake Okanagan Resort. At least one evacuation order f...

British and Swiss police break up a crime ring and recover a valuable Ming vase in a sting operation

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 07:33:00 GMT

LONDON (AP) — A sting operation at a London hotel helped authorities recover a 15th-century Chinese vase worth about 2 million pounds ($2.5 million) and break up the criminal ring believed to have stolen the artifact from a Swiss museum, British police said Saturday. The vase, which dates to the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, was one of three items stolen from the Museum of Far Eastern Art in Geneva in 2019.The Metropolitan Police Service made the announcement after a London court on Friday found two men guilty of charges related to the gang’s effort to sell the vase. A third man pleaded guilty to similar charges earlier this year, and two other men who were arrested in London are awaiting trial in Switzerland for their alleged role in the burglary. All five are from southeast London.“The organized crime group involved in this offending believed they could commit significant offenses internationally and that there would be no comeback,’’ said Detective Chief Inspector Matt Webb, ...
