'Mass casualty incident' as boat runs aground with multiple people injured, 1 missing on Lake Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin-Travis County EMS responded to a "mass casualty incident" on Lake Austin after a boat ran aground Sunday evening. Officials said seven total people were involved in the incident, with a teenager missing and unable to be located.Two patients were transported with serious injuries, an additional two with potentially serious injuries and two transport refusals at the scene. Officials added in a follow-up social media post the situation had been switched to a recovery effort for the missing person. Multiple ATCEMS ambulances, Austin Police's Lake Patrol Unit, several fire departments along with Travis County STAR Flight responded to the scene Sunday evening. POINT VENTURE, Texas (KXAN) -- One person is dead and several others are hospitalized following a crash on Lake Travis involving a boat and jet ski Sunday afternoon.Austin-Travis County EMS initially said in a social media post one adult was transported to St. David's South Austin Medical Center with potentially serious injuries. CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) -- A SWAT situation at a Cedar Park hotel has ended, according to the Cedar Park Police Department. Police said officers and SWAT personnel were at the Best Western hotel on Whitestone Boulevard Sunday afternoon "in reference to a high risk warrant service," per a department social media post. Around 6 p.m., police said the Central Texas Regional SWAT team entered the location and found a dead person. The investigation was turned over to Cedar Park detectives. A 21-year-old Colorado woman died Saturday in Rocky Mountain National Park, and two men were critically injured over the weekend in two separate falls that required helicopter rescues.The woman, who was from Severance, fell approximately 300 feet while she and a partner were descending the Flying Dutchman couloir between Longs Peak and Mount Meeker, according to a news release from the National Park Service. The Flying Dutchman stretches across a snowy, icy and rocky 1,600-foot path from the west end of Chasm Lake to the north end of the Loft.Her body had not been removed from the mountains as of Sunday evening because of weather conditions. Officials hoped to recover her on Monday, weather and resources permitting, the news release said.Her death is under investigation. Two people were killed, and four others injured after a head-on collision in Lancaster ejected multiple passengers from the two vehicles Sunday afternoon. Personnel with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received calls about the crash on Avenue E, near 50th Street East, at around 12:43 p.m., authorities told KTLA. At the scene, two people were declared dead, two others were in critical condition and the remaining two sustained minor injuries. The four surviving patients were taken to the Antelope Valley Medical Center, an independent news agency reported. Video footage of the scene showed a heavy presence of first responders, along with the wreckage of the violent collision. The body of 17-year-old Katherine Schneider has been found in the Santa Cruz mountains, just over a month after she was reported missing from her Saratoga home, according to a statement her family shared on Instagram.“It is hard to put into words how much Katie will be missed,” the teen’s family said in a social media post on Sunday. “She taught us all how to live our biggest life without reservation.”According to the post, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office told Schneider’s family that she had died in a car accident, and that her remains were found in a ravine near Castle Rock State Park.“At this time, the circumstances surrounding the heartbreaking incident are still under investigation,” the post stated.On July 5, Schneider left her residence without taking money, identification cards, or a cell phone with her, Schneider’s mother said in a social media post. (BCN) -- Human remains were found Saturday near Castle Rock Park during a search for a missing Saratoga teenager. Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office officials said the county medical examiner is investigating to determine the identity of the person located. Missing Saratoga teen Katherine Schneider’s car found on Skyline Boulevard Katherine Schneider, 17, went missing from her Saratoga home on July 5. She was last seen leaving her residence on a white 2019 Honda Accord. Sheriff's deputies found the unoccupied car Aug. 7 on Skyline Boulevard, near Castle Rock State Park.Sheriff's officials said Sunday the case is still an active investigation. Katherine is a white female juvenile, with straight blonde mid-back-length hair, and blue eyes. She's approximately 5'5 and weighs approximately 115 pounds.
